Lilly Camille Riter is an acrylic artist based in Riverton, Wyoming, where the quiet beauty of her hometown inspires her work. Self-taught and fiercely determined, Lilly’s journey into the art world began with an unlikely spark—discouragement. As a sixth grader, after completing her first watercolor painting, her art teacher called her work mediocre and advised her against pursuing art. That moment fueled a lifelong commitment to proving otherwise, and today, her canvases stand as vivid testaments to her resilience and talent.
For Lilly, art is more than creating; it’s a sanctuary. What began as a challenge to master realism has grown into a meditative practice, a way to quiet the noise of the world and connect with its essence. Her work reflects her fascination with aviation, wildlife, and the rugged beauty of nature. While her commissioned pieces focus on intricate realism, her studio also holds a collection of abstract works—bold, expressive, and created purely for the joy of letting paint flow freely.
Lilly’s work has been exhibited in galleries and events across Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah over the past 20 years. In 2007, she was honored as Fremont County, Wyoming’s New Artist of the Year, a recognition that cemented her place in the regional art scene. From its inaugural debut in 2021, Lilly has participated in Central Wyoming College's Annual Fine Art Exhibition, including the quick draw competition where she placed first in 2022 and second in 2024.
Whether she’s meticulously capturing the details of a hawk in flight or letting her intuition guide her brush through an abstract composition, Lilly’s art invites viewers into a world of vibrancy, depth, and connection. Through her work, she hopes to inspire others to embrace creativity, push past limitations, and find beauty in the unexpected.
When not painting, Lilly enjoys the simple pleasures of life in Riverton, surrounded by the landscapes and wildlife that continually fuel her artistic spirit.
